Alex Altamirano is a dedicated 15-year veteran of the New York City Police Department, currently serving in the Operations Unit. A Bethpage resident for the past seven years, Alex brings both professional expertise and personal commitment to his community involvement and charitable endeavors.
Altamirano received his Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs with a concentration in Emergency Management from SUNY Empire State University and is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Champlain College. His educational background complements his extensive law enforcement experience and leadership roles within the NYPD.
As a former PBA union delegate, Altamirano has demonstrated his commitment to advocacy and representation for his fellow officers. His dedication to service extends beyond his professional duties through his active involvement with the Nassau/Suffolk Autism Society of America, an organization that holds special significance for his family.
Altamirano is married to Maria, and together they are the proud parents of two sons, Gavin and Ethan. When Gavin was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at age two, organizations like the Nassau/Suffolk Autism Society of America became invaluable resources, providing Gavin with opportunities to interact and experience activities in a safe, judgment-free environment.
In May 2023, Altamirano competed in the inaugural Tuesday’s Children Boxing Event, raising funds for military families and first responders affected by 9/11. This experience ignited his passion for charitable boxing, leading him to discover that there is no better way to raise awareness and funds for important causes than demonstrating how hard he is willing to work and fight for what he believes in.
Currently training for the 20th Long Island Fight for Charity Main Event, Altamirano is fighting on behalf of the Nassau/Suffolk Autism Society of America. His upcoming November 24 bout represents more than personal achievement – it is his commitment to raising awareness for autism families and showing them that they are never in the fight alone. Through his boxing platform, he continues to demonstrate that service to community extends far beyond his role as a police officer, embodying the spirit of advocacy and support for those who need it most.
