LETTER FROM THE CO-FOUNDERS, Mr. Jeff Cohen, Mr. Matthew Silver, and Mr. Jamie Austin
We started the Long Island Community Chest in 2001 to raise money to help individuals and families in need on Long Island.  From a simple mission and small group of caring friends, we created the Long Island Fight for Charity, one of Long Island’s most exciting and anticipated events each year.  During our first 8 years, over $700,000 has been distributed to a diverse list of Long Island Charities.

We aim to break all records in 2012.  An event like this engages the resources of many people and we wish to acknowledge their hard work and dedication.  We raise our glasses and toast the many people who help make this event the success it is.  From the Official Training Centers (Garden City’s KAYO Boxing, Body Shot Boxing in St. James, Fitness Through Boxing in Dix Hills and Ultimate Performance and Fitness in Greenvale and Bay Shore) to the restaurants that feed you, the Chairs and members of the committees and the volunteers who make the night happen. Each plays a key role in bringing this evening to life.

And let us not forget the Celebrity Boxers, who take time out of the day to fundraise and then spend hours in the gym at night for weeks and months in advance training,  so they can entertain over 1,000 screaming fans in attendance.

While the boxing matches are fun and important, remember, they are just the vehicle we use to accomplish our mission; raise funds & awareness and spread the word about our benefiting Long Island charities vital programs and services.
